relatable (formerly known as what do you meme?)

marketing/e-commerce design | 2023–2024

ever play a game called what do you meme? this game is a tiktok sensation where you pair caption cards with hilarious gifs or photo cards. a rotating judge picks the funniest combo to win the round. this is the core of what relatable is—all fun and games. what started out as a small company with this singular product, eventually grew to what it is right now—plushes, drinking games, blankets, wellness, family games, relationships….the list goes on.

my job? while we had devoted teams to making the products themselves, the marketing designers made sure that we made every asset needed to actually sell the product. this includes creating assets that would eventually show across amazon, walmart, target and more. zooming in on amazon for example, amazon has product photography that plays a role as the main ingredient to our e-commerce salad. we direct and work with photographers to take these images and capture the best moments of these products. after editing them in batches, we optimize them to then have additional information.

keep on swiping through these optimized images and you’ll see the biggest challenge of my career (at least that’s how it felt during that time)...video editing. 30 second videos were made to explain the product. before this job i had very little aftereffects experience and here i was making 30 second videos with heavier animation. using my notebook to ideate how each video would look like—at the same i would work with our art director, our brand managers and copy editors to achieve the goal we have in mind with these videos. i would dive into the art director’s working files on aftereffects to learn more followed by hours of tutorials.

also made something more kid friendly.

scroll even further on amazon and you’re introduced to a+ content. a+ content gives a customer a deeper dive of the product. how is this product used? why should i buy it? what is included? with just a couple tiles, we had to make sure we concisely gave the customer the necessary information while keeping the momentum of their product interest going. these were optimized for web, social, and tablet—all while keeping seo in mind.

with over half a million followers on instagram and 5.7 million followers on tiktok, of course social was also ingrained into our day to day.

p.s. …i made memes.
